Cake review: Pistachio Eclair, Maître Choux, 6AW (£6.30)

As I may have mentioned before, I’m not one of these “it’s too sweet” people. If you miss a bit of salted caramel pistachio in your bite, this green finger is verging on savoury. Inside is a sort of thick/solid green custard, and on top a smear of gelatine-thickened something. The choux is a wee bit chewy, as feared. On the plus side, flavours are delicate and not unpleasant. I also got a free sugar-coated choux bun which was positively delicious. I could have eaten five. I calculate that the cost of this cake was about 27p per gram. Pretty scandalous. All in all, 6.5/10
